Wurli-Wurlinjang Health Service is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation delivering primary and clinical health care services to Aboriginal people in Katherine and surrounding communities. Wurli prides itself on providing a range of health services in a culturally appropriate manner that ensures clients feel welcome, safe, and comfortable.

Wurli operates multiple clinics and programs, including the main clinic (acute and general care), Gudbinji Chronic Disease Clinic, Binjari Health Clinic, and Women’s and Children’s and Men’s Health programs. These services are supported by a multidisciplinary team, including Registered Aboriginal Health Practitioners.

The Transport Officer – Community Liaison plays a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of health and wellbeing services by providing safe, reliable, and culturally appropriate transport and client liaison services. This role acts as a key link between Wurli, clients, families, and the wider community, ensuring clients can access services and understand their care journey.


Key Areas of Responsibility

In a culturally sensitive manner, provide a range of transport, liaison, and support services, including but not limited to:

Service Delivery:

  • Provide client liaison support between Wurli clinics/programs and the community
  • Deliver appointment letters and explain appointment details where required
  • Provide transport services (pick-up and drop-off) to clinics, hospital, and other services
  • Assist clients to understand the purpose of their appointments
  • Liaise with Patient Services to ensure service priorities are met

Transport & Vehicle Management:

  • Drive vehicles safely in accordance with road rules and duty of care obligations
  • Complete daily vehicle pre-start checks
  • Maintain vehicles in a clean and safe condition
  • Report maintenance issues promptly
  • Manage client behaviour during transport to ensure safety

Community Engagement & Liaison:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and community members
  • Promote access to Wurli services across the community
  • Support culturally appropriate communication and engagement

Team Support & Administration:

  • Attend daily briefings and follow allocated schedules
  • Report barriers to service delivery
  • Complete required documentation, vehicle logs, and client records
  • Report client concerns in a timely manner

  • Basic administrative and record-keeping skills
