Maintenance Support Officer

Wurli-Wurlinjang Health Service is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation delivering primary and clinical health care services to the Aboriginal people in Katherine and surrounding communities. Wurli operates a range of clinics within the area and in order to deliver services operates from a range of facilities and locations with varying service needs. The infrastructure, assets and Workplace Health and Safety team provide critical support to the rest of the Wurli teams by ensuring effective and timely provision of a range of services to the organisation.

Wurli is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual, to join our Asset team as a Maintenance Support Officer.  This position is responsible for the timely completion of supporting services such as, but not limited to general maintenance (facility and housing), grounds upkeep and presentation and the delivery of preventative maintenance programs. The role is also required to perform a range of duties to assist with assets management, vehicle and fleet managements and workplace health and safety.

An example of the duties to be performed include:

  • Perform general facilities and housing maintenance, including basic painting, plumbing, carpentry and minor repairs
  • Perform general grounds and upkeep of Wurli facilities including mowing, pruning, weeding, rubbish removal, landscaping / gardening in order to maintain high presentation and safety standards
  • Proactively identify and respond to all general maintenance requirements in a timely manner
  • Assist with the completion of duties in accordance with the preventative maintenance schedule as instructed
  • Monitor reactive maintenance and in consultation with the manager, adjust the preventative maintenance schedule to overcome identified deficits


Whilst qualifications are not essential, we are seeking an individual who can demonstrate:-

  • Previous experience in a handyperson / grounds and maintenance position
  • Sound interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Organised, punctual and reliable
  • Sound knowledge of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture
  • Intermediate computer skills including the ability to use MS Office Suite (including Outlook)
