Intake Officer / Support Worker

Wurli is seeking a motivated, organised and enthusiastic individual, with sound administrative and interpersonal skills, to join our Social and Emotional Wellbeing team as an Intake Officer / Support Worker.  This positions is responsible for providing a culturally sensitive approach and assistance to our clients in order to improve their social and emotional wellbeing.  Key components of the role will include assisting with the provision of intake, assessment and referral services within Wurli and externally as required.  In addition to this the role is required to provides the  SEWB  and other community services programs with a range of supporting administrative functions whilst providing front office (telephone and reception) services and client liaison services as necessary for the achievement of SEWB outcomes for Wurli.

An example of the duties to be performed include:

  • As the first point of contact for all clients for SEWB services , ensure that respect, friendliness, professionalism and confidentiality are demonstrated on all occasion involving client contact and interaction
  • Assist with and coordinate the intake / the acceptance of the referrals process  from all internal services and other external parties; this will include but is not limited to:-
  • Assistance with assessment of potential client referrals in accordance with policy
  • Complete intake assessment in accordance with standards
  • Accept referrals and coordinate the delivery of services
  • Monitor any “walk-in” traffic and ensure the appropriate services / referrals or advice is provided
  • Works with Wurli’s Social Emotional and Wellbeing service to enhance the team’s capacity and provide support in a range of administrative functions including but not limited to:-
  • Management and collation as required of internal and external program / service correspondence
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of documents, briefing papers, data collection associated with the program
  • Prepare and circulate minutes from team meetings and other forums
  • Collate client feedback surveys
  • Receive and record messages for other team members
  • Prepare and manage team calendars (visit schedules, meetings, training

Whilst qualifications are not essential, we are seeking an individual who can demonstrate:-

  • A Service –user focus: Committed to and acts for well-being of all service users (internal and external)
  • An ability to adhere to confidentiality and privacy principles of client information and files
  • Organised
  • Sound knowledge of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture
  • Sounds skills and knowledge of administrative functions
  • Intermediate computer skills including the ability to use MS Office Suite (including Outlook) and Communicare or equivalent systems
  • Current National Police Records Check and Working with Children’s Clearance
  • Current Northern Territory Driver’s License
