General InformationGeneral Information | How to Apply | Current Vacancies While our primary responsibility is to improve the health of the Indigenous people of Katherine and its surrounds, we understand that we also have a responsibility to support local Indigenous people by providing employment and career opportunities. Essentially, this is achieved by developing people’s skills through formal training and professional development, but we also promote the principle of multi-skilling, providing individuals with diversity in both their roles and capabilities. More generally, Wurli Wurlinjang provides a range of employment opportunities for those with a genuine interest in Indigenous health. Staff are able to gain experience in many aspects of health service delivery, including clinical operations, specialist program areas (child and maternal health, eye health, ear health, sexual health, chronic disease, and so on), and administration. The work environment is very comfortable – the purpose-built health centre is modern, functional, and well equipped; the hours of work are 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday (there is no requirement to undertake on-call, after-hours, or weekend work); and everyone is entitled to 6 weeks annual leave, 1 week special leave, and 2 weeks study leave per annum. And Katherine is a great place to live, with arguably the best climate of anywhere in Australia, perhaps the world! |
