Suzi Berto - Wurli CEO

Message from the CEO, Suzi Berto

Katherine is my home town and I couldn’t be more proud than to represent this great organisation that originated from the local Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, Kalano Community Association that was reported to be the 23rd Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service to be set up in Australia back in 1983.

I acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Elders past and present of these lands. I also acknowledge the work and the efforts of all Board of Directors and staff both past and present. We all know that it takes each and every one of us to make a difference to maintain the continuity of care to our clients. Together we will continue in our journey to provide the best possible service to close the gap and keep in line with Wurli’s vision ‘To move forward as one, to heal our people and improve our health’.

Developing our Board of Directors and staff is a key focus and a strategic goal of Wurli. We will continue to build our human resource capacity by continuing to provide support and training for our Board of Directors and staff as well as continue to emphasise the importance of building career pathways for our local Aboriginal people across a range of skill areas.

We work in a remote and challenging but extremely rewarding part of the world. Our work is important and is seen as a vital part in the fight for better health for our people.
